Q. What is this for?
A. Finding a job is hard enough for candidates, but what makes job searching especially hard is misinformation. Job candidates have but a few sources of information about job positions and careers. The information that is available, such as job descriptions on job search websites, are typically authored by the Human Resource departments of the company that posted the job listing. We find this to be a conflict of interest. In response to this issue, we decided to develop an unbiased job description website. Besides, who better to tell you about a job than people who actually are in the position?
Q. What happens if two people in the same position, but at different companies, enter a job description?
A. Then we'll be happy! Honestly, there is nothing wrong with multiple entries for one position. We are going to take all of the entries and attempt to compile a final entry per position. After we have an adequate amount of entries, we are then going to make them public so that everyone can benefit from the great information that we've received from the working community.
Q. Why don't you want any company specific data?
That's a great question. Basically we're not trying to help you decide what company to work for, we're just trying to help you make a better decision on what type of position or career you would like to pursue. We understand that a similar position at different companies can be comparatively very different, but we honestly believe that job description information at its core will be synonymous no matter what company you work for. Besides, if we help you understand exactly what a job or position is like, you can focus your research on company specific information, rather than asking whether or not you would like a particular job or position.
Q. This really seems like a great project, how can I help?
The best way you can help is by adding a job description. The second best way you can help is to get anyone you know to do the same.
